I am sure you’ve seen it over and over again:

“Discover The Secrets Most People Will NEVER know when (insert niche here).”

The word “secret” has been used over and over again in internet marketing. I’m sure you’ve seen it in headlines and other forms of advertising.

There’s a good reason why: People love secrets!

Image if you’re in high school and your best friend walked up to you and told you, “I have a secret to tell you!”  Chances are your attention will perk up and you’ll want to know what that secret is.

You see, the reason the word “secret” is used a lot in internet marketing is because it’s such a powerful word and attracts attention. People always want to know secrets since most people are inherently curious.

Further, most people are also paranoid that other people know more information then they do. That’s another reason “secrets” is so powerful, because it plays upon people’s inherent need to be “up-to-speed” on the same subject as you.

That’s the reason tabloids like the National Enquirer use the word, “Secret” over and over again on their covers. They employ the best headline writers in the world. If you’ve ever been tempted to pick up one of these magazines while in the grocery aisle, you know what I’m talking about.

So what kind of “Secret” can you extract from your business. For this to work, it has to be a little-known fact most people in your market doesn’t know. For example, if you have a little known way to grow better roses, then you can legitimately call it a “secret” if people don’t know it.

You can then weave that secret into your promotions. The longer you tease people that you have a “Secret”, the more attention and sales you could get.

There’s no secret to that!
