It’s no secret that upsells are the way to go when it comes to getting more value out of every transaction. Yet very few people upsell their customers after they made their first purchase.

Have you ever bought a domain from Godaddy.com?  There are upsells galore, from hosting plans to domain protection. They know they can boost their value per transaction by adding upsells after the initial purchase.

So what are some good ideas for upsells?

1) Offer an audio version of your ebook.

If you’re selling an ebook or print information product, you can easily add an upsell to the funnel that consists of the audio version of the product. Audiobooks are becoming very popular since a lot of people these days are extremely busy.

Plus they are willing to pay a little extra for an audiobook version of a text information product. Just look at the audiobooks in bookstores or if you download them in iTunes.  They are usually more expensive than the print version.

2) Offer a course from your initial product.

So let’s say you sold a golf ebook that teaches people how to hit longer golf drives. Well, don’t you think they would like to know about how to hit longer putts or bunker shots? This is an opportunity to create a course you can easily sell for 2-3 times the amount as an upsell and goes in-depth into the subject matter they’re trying to master.

3) Offer 1 on 1 coaching.

If you would like to devote your time to this, you can easily offer coaching with your package.

Teaching people how to make money online? Why not offer a high-priced coaching program where people can pay thousands of dollars to have someone coach them.

The market for coaching (not only internet marketing but the coaching industry in general) is flourishing and is a perfect upsell if you’re good at working with people.

4) Offer a Quickstart CD.

Teaching people how to do something that’s technical or requires some visualization to accomplish? Offer a quickstart video that will walk people through how to get the most out of the subject.

This works if you are teaching something that can be accelerated by showing them how to do it, rather than leaving it up to their own devices to figure it out themselves.

Many people would love to pay for something that can give them a “shortcut” to whatever benefit they desire as a result of buying your product. Therefore it makes an awesome upsell idea.
