For those who regularly put out content, it can sometimes be difficult to come up new ideas for blogs. Gone are the days of releasing an article full of keywords but with little informative value. With the new Google algorithms we have to put out more and more useful articles, and so it can sometimes be tough to keep the articles fresh, interesting and useful.
Here are a few ideas of what you can write about to keep your content great.
This works better in some industries than others – for those industries which are continually moving forward, this is a great idea. It also shows that you have your finger on the pulse of what’s going on in your area.
A Beginner’s Guide
A beginner’s guide to something related to your product, service or industry is perfect for attracting newbies as well as establishing yourself as an authority in your particular area.
Your Company Culture
Customers are becoming increasingly interested in other aspects of your business apart from the product or service that you are offering. Tell them about your company charity policy, your flex-time policy or other cultural aspects that you want to show off. You could also talk about the place of your business within the local community.
Your Company News
You can write posts about company news, whether it is internal or external. You can talk about the new Chief Exec and the direction that they will take the company in, or the new sponsorship of the local football team. Maybe someone has done something above and beyond their call of duty or you will be hosting an event.
Get some positive testimonials from customers and talk about them and how you managed to give such great service. This not only gives you great content, but also shows off the things which you are doing well.
Have a look at some other companies who are doing really well in something linked to your business. They needn’t be direct competitors, but you can show your understanding for your industry by talking about how they have been successful. You could also use your own success stories – but try not to be too smug, as this can be off-putting!
By creating a Frequently Asked Questions post, you are not only giving vital information to your customer base, but you are also reducing the repetitive answering of the same questions over and over again, and showing that you really understand your customers.
Re-Vamp Old Content
If you have been writing blog posts for some time, you can go back to an old article of say, 2 years, give it a fresh look and update it. Make it relevant to developments in your industry – or in the world in general, to make it worth putting out again.
Try a different angle by interviewing people either in your company or in your industry. It can offer new insights and will certainly be of interest to your regular readers. You could either write them out or why not try a YouTube video or podcast to add extra interest?
Talk About Your Products
Don’t make it like a long advert, but talk about your products, how they were developed, made or delivered. This can be of interest to those in the industry, as well as to those with a specific interest in your company.
Regardless of what you are writing about, don’t forget that the onus is on quality and usefulness. Try some of these ideas to maintain interest and vary them a little.
